Some courts do restrict this privilege to certain violators (for
example, disabled or out-of-town violators). Even though Certified
Defensive Driving™ is approved as a home study alternative in many
courts, it is your responsibility to insure that your court approves
home study in your particular case. If you learned about us from the
court everything is OK. If you learned about us from a friend or
newspaper article or a web browser you should do further checking on
our Courts page.
Also, you must complete this course in time to allow us to verify your
work and process papers for delivery to the court. We use standard
first class mail and strongly recommend that you give us five working
days for this task. If you are pressed for time we can work with you
but we will charge for special handling. Remember that it is up to you
to complete all requirements in time.
WHAT IS HOME STUDY TRAFFIC SCHOOL?
Home study traffic school is an option offered by various courts to
satisfy requirements in the California Vehicle Code to have your
traffic citation resolved without a conviction on your DMV record.
Certified Defensive Driving™ is permitted under the California Vehicle
code, Section 42007(c) as long as the program is authorized by the
court in whose jurisdiction the citation was issued.

WHAT IS VERIFIED TESTING?
VERIFIED TESTING simply means that a student must take his or her
Final Exam at a place where s/he can be identified as the proper
person to take the exam and where someone is available to verify that
you complete the Final Exam on your own. Most courts that accept our
home study program allow students to complete the examination process
at home. However, some courts now require "VERIFIED TESTING" of the
final exam. VERIFIED TESTING is currently required if your citation
was issued in the counties of Alameda, Kern, King, San Bernardino and
San Diego. Other courts may follow.
VERIFIED TESTING is
determined by the court that processed your citation and has nothing
to do with the county in which you live. VERIFIED TESTING is required
for anyone who gets a ticket in Kern County or San Diego County
whether you are a resident of California or some other state. If your
ticket is from San Bernardino County, it is a requirement for
California residents only. if you are not a resident of California but
received a ticket in San Bernardino County you are not required to
have a verified test.
To make the process
convenient we have chosen to use Notary Publics because you can most
likely find at least one in every city. The larger the city the closer
you are to a Notary. Check you local phone book under Notary Public
and make a few calls to check their fees and availability. Some are
mobile and will travel to your location.
If you are required to
have a VERIFIED TEST:
1. Find and make an appointment with a convenient Notary Public.
2. Go to the agreed location, be identified and take the exam.
Note: you cannot fill out the exam papers before meeting with
the Notary.
3. Have the exam paper notarized (stamped) and the Notary paper
attached.
4. Pay the Notary the agreed upon fee.
5. Send the notarized Exam to us for processing.

IS
TESTING DIFFICULT?
No, definitely not. All questions can be answered from course
material.
It is not our intention to cause you pain or discomfort. You will be
completing five sections each with a section quiz and a final exam.
Different courts have different testing requirements. All courts
require a validation quiz in addition to the section quizzes and the
final exam. Sometimes, depending on court requirements, the validation
questions are mixed in with the final exam and sometimes they are
presented as a separate quiz. Some questions test that you have
completely read and understand all of the course material and the
other questions test your knowledge of traffic laws. All Certified
Defensive Driving™ questions can be answered from course material.

HOW OFTEN CAN I GO TO TRAFFIC SCHOOL?
A court may refer you to a traffic violator school or a home study
program at any time. However, the California Vehicle Code (see
sections 42005 and/or 1808.7) mandates that only one citation in an
eighteen (18) month period be masked from public view on your driving
record. The eighteen (18) month period is calculated from
citation/violation date not class attendance date. However, California
Vehicle Code section 41501 does allow for a second trip to traffic
school if you receive another violation within eighteen months of the
first violation. Check with your court to protect yourself.
